Hard workers!!

Hello! We had an awesome week learning about Dr. Seuss and George Washington! I have posted new pictures from our Dr. Seuss birthday party on our google album and I will provide the link below.

This week we will continue working on our individual sight words and guided reading groups. I have seen such confidence in all of the students with their ability to learn new words and read stories! New words and guided reading books will go home Monday. Please continue to read and practice with your child.

In math, we will continue counting to 100 and this week we will be learning number words 1-10. I will send home flash cards for you to practice.

In Social Studies we will be learning about folktales.

Please visit our google photo album to see some fun pictures from this past week!

It was a great week getting back into the routine... again!! I was so proud of all of the students for coming to school happy and ready to learn! We picked up where we left off with our new guided reading groups. All of the students who had books and sight words scored 100% on both! I can't wait to start a new book with them this week. Thank you for practicing at home, it really helps and the kids love reading to you! New books, sight word cards, and spelling words will be in their blue folders, please practice nightly! If your child is still working on alphabet, we will continue one more week of letter Dd as well as rhyming words.

In math, Kindergartners will focus on counting to 50 and writing our numbers. First graders will continue place value to 20 and greater than less than. We will also be practicing adding numbers to 10.
In science and social studies, we will be learning about light, sound and shadows.

Please let me know if you have any questions and check google photos for some new pictures of the last few weeks.. Have a great week!

Hello! We have a had a great few weeks getting back into the routine after Christmas break and the unexpected snow day! Last week we learned about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr  and continued practicing our math and reading skills.
Next week, starting Tuesday, January 16, we will begin our guided reading which includes books to come home with a bag of sight words. Please read the sight words with your child before reading the book. Your child should practice each word 3 times and then read the story 2 times with you. If you see your child struggling with a word, try to help them by asking them to sound it out, or use the pictures in the story to help them. The goal is to have them independently reading the book and sight words each week.
In Math, we will continue practicing counting and writing numbers. Our first graders will be starting to learn about greater and less than and numbers in base ten.

In Science, we will be learning about the food pyramid as well as our bodies and how we can keep them healthy through food and exercise.

We are off to a great start in the 3rd quarter!!
